Letters To The author #1: To the Author Who Thinks They're Not Qualified

Jun 29, 2026

Dear Author,

Can I ask you something?

Who decided you weren't qualified to write a book?

Was it you?

Or was it that little voice that has a habit of moving the goalposts every time you get close to doing something that really matters?

Maybe you've told yourself you need another qualification.

A few more years of experience.

More clients.

More success stories.

More confidence.

More proof that you know what you're talking about.

And then…

Maybe.

But here's what I've learned after working with so many aspiring authors.

The people who question whether they're qualified are rarely the ones who shouldn't write a book.

In fact, it's usually the opposite.

They're the ones who care deeply about getting it right.

They're the ones who want to create something genuinely helpful.

They're the ones who understand the responsibility that comes with sharing their ideas.

And because they care so much, they convince themselves they're not ready.

Can I gently offer you another perspective?

Your book isn't about proving that you know everything.

It's about sharing what you already know in a way that helps someone else take their next step.

Think about the conversations you have every day.

The questions you answer without thinking.

The advice that feels obvious to you but creates a breakthrough for someone else.

The problems you solve almost instinctively.

You've probably become so close to your own expertise that you've stopped recognising how valuable it really is.

What feels ordinary to you is often extraordinary to someone who's just a few steps behind.

They don't need the world's leading expert.

They need someone who understands where they are and can help them move forward.

Maybe that's you.

Actually...

I have a feeling it is.

Your book doesn't have to change everyone's life.

It just has to change someone's.

So, instead of asking yourself...

"Am I qualified enough?"

Try asking...

"Who might still be struggling because I haven't shared what I already know?"

That question changes everything.

Because your book has never really been about you.

It's about the reader who's waiting to find it.

And perhaps they're waiting for you more than you realise.

So today, I'd love you to stop waiting for permission.

Stop waiting to feel like you've finally earned the right.

Trust the experience you've already lived.

Trust the lessons you've already learned.

Trust that your voice matters.

And then…

Write the first page.

Not because you have everything figured out.

But because someone is waiting for the version of you who's brave enough to begin.

It's time to start writing your next chapter.

I'm cheering you on every step of the way!

Lyndsey x
